MTV: Robert Pattinson ‘Water for Elephants’ Premiere (video)

'MTV First: Taylor Lautner's top 5 MTV moments (video)

The Twilight Saga Official Illustrated Guide of Bella in her wedding dress (Photo)

EW has not one but two exclusive images from Stephenie Meyer’s new book, The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide, which goes on sale April 12: Bella as a vampire and Bella in her wedding dress. A nice walk-up to the first Breaking Dawn film, no? I didn’t expect to like the first Twilight graphic novel as much as I did, and these illustrations are by that book’s illustrator, Young Kim, who did such a great job bringing Meyer’s characters to life.

Director Catherine Hardwicke looking back on Twilight and why she made Robert Pattinson swear on a stack of Bibles

For Twilight, Hardwicke had trouble finding an actor otherworldly enough to play vampire Edward Cullen. Then she got a call about a guy in London. “I looked at a couple pictures and was like, ‘I’m not sure,’?” Hardwicke says. “He had been fired from his last job, he was unemployed, he was in debt.” Pattinson flew to Los Angeles on his own dime to read with Stewart. “I have footage of their first meeting at my dining-room table,” Hardwicke says. “Kristen was like, ‘It’s got to be Rob!’ She felt connected to him from the first moment. That electricity, or love at first sight, or whatever it is.” Hardwicke gave him the part, but he had to make a promise. “You’ve got to realize that Kristen is 17 years old,” she told him. “She’s underage. You’ve got to focus, dude, or you’re going to be arrested. I made him swear on a stack of Bibles.”

Despite Twilight’s $400 million global success, Hardwicke left the franchise when it came to the sequel. She said it was her decision, despite a blog report that she was fired. “I couldn’t even be fired, that’s what’s so funny,” she says. “In my contract, I had the first right of refusal.” She turned down the second film, she says, because the studio wanted to rush it out. “I do not regret it at all, thank the Lord,” she says. “The truth is I liked the first book the best.”

There is something of the vampire in Hardwicke herself. Just as Edward will never grew old, Hardwicke refuses to abandon the mischievous joys of youth. There’s nothing formal about the way she does business. She frequently invites her protégés over to audition or rehearse. Her home is “right on the beach,” says Shiloh Fernandez, who plays the hunky Peter in Red Riding Hood. “It’s like a loft for a young surfer guy.” It’s not Grandma’s house. But there is a bed. And she lures young actors onto it, though not in the traditional casting-couch way. When Hardwicke auditioned Evan Rachel Wood for Thirteen, she had her get into her bed with Nikki Reed. That’s also where Pattinson kissed Stewart for the first time in his Twilight screen test. “That bed made Pattinson who he is right now,” says Reed. Asked about her lair, Hardwicke laughs. “MTV came and did an episode in my house filming the bed. It’s legendary,” she says, flashing a wide—dare we say wolfish—grin.

It's for real Peter Facinelli wants your blood... for a good cause.

Actor Peter Facinelli played as the patriarch of vampire Cullen family known as Dr. Carlisle Cullen has joined the blood drive of Community Blood Council of NJ for emergency blood supplies.

"There's an irony in a vampire asking for your blood," said Peter Facinelli, perhaps better known as Dr. Carlisle Cullen of the blockbuster film "Twilight" and "The Twilight Saga."

"I always think it's a good fit," Facinelli said.

On March 5, from noon to 5 p.m., Facinelli will visit Quaker Bridge Mall to spend time with fans and promote two charitable organizations focusing on two distinct causes: Alex's Lemonade Stand for Childhood Cancer and the Community Blood Council of NJ for emergency blood supplies.

Facinelli will spend the day in the mall's lower level center court for a meet-and-greet and autograph session, as well as a "Twilight"-inspired blood drive, which will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. just outside of Sears.

The star will sign autographs for $25 and take photos with fans for $40, plus $10 per additional person, in the afternoon, with part of the proceeds benefitting Alex's Lemonade Stand. More information can be found online at www.quakerbridgemall.com.

Those fans wishing to donate blood should contact the Community Blood Council of New Jersey at (609) 883-9750 ext. 145, or visit www.givebloodnj.org. Donors will automatically be entered to win a private dinner later that evening with Facinelli, and the first 25 donors will receive an autographed T-shirt.

"It's a day where fans and I get to get together and have fun," Facinelli told The Times in a phone interview yesterday, "but also, we're helping to save lives at the same time. Everybody wins in that respect."

Along with contributing to two great causes, he said he is looking forward to meeting some of his fans.

"It makes me excited to meet them," he said. "It's a long day, but no matter how tired I get, (I) get fed by the energy of the crowd."

And according to Marian Kapp, marketing director at Quaker Bridge Mall, there will be plenty of fans on hand.

"Fans as far as Virginia and Florida are planning on traveling to meet Peter Facinelli," she said.

Mary Moore, recruitment account manager for the Community Blood Council, said she hopes the event will be a win-win, where fans get to visit with a celebrity and the blood council receives donations.

"The winter months have really produced a lot of shortages for us," she said. "We're hoping that it brings in blood."

Summit’s ‘Twilight’ Soundtrack DVD, BD Turns Gold

Nowadays Steve Nickerson, Summit Entertainment’s president of home entertainment, isn’t surprised by how well anything “Twilight” does at retail.

So when the Recording Industry Association of America, or RIAA, announced this month that the combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc releases of Music Videos and Performances from The Twilight Saga Soundtracks Vol. 1 had reached RIAA-certified gold status Nickerson was more pleased than surprised.

“It’s a little bit of a unique project we developed with Atlantic [Records], and we’re happy with the consumer reaction to it,” he said. “Each of the three individual soundtracks did more than well, and while any of the videos may be available through the individual artists, to put them all together in a product was a unique opportunity,”

This “visual soundtrack” ($34.99 Blu-ray, $26.99 DVD) features music videos and live performances from bands featured on the soundtracks of The Twilight Saga: Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse, including Muse, Paramore, Death Cab For Cutie and Cee Lo Green. More than 20 songs are included, and bonus features include two more performances: Debussy “Clair de Lune” and Verdi “La Traviata.” The collection also is available for download via iTunes.

Nickerson knows most “Twilight” fans are already hip to the collection, but he has a message for those who haven’t happened on it yet: “If you’re a fan of the movies and you’re a fan of the music, you should take a look at it.”

Ashley Greene dishes about her romance with Joe Jonas and from rising starlet to full-blown glamour girl in Teen Vogue Cover (video)

It's not easy being Greene. Or rather, as Ashley herself says, it isn't always easy. Yes, the winsomely pretty 23-year-old has a supercute boyfriend (one Mr. Joe Jonas) and a sizable role in the ultrasuccessful Twilight series, but that doesn't mean that life is a nonstop cakewalk for the actress. "There have definitely been low points," she admits. "Moments when I sit in my hotel room and want to cry! It's fun," she says of her fast-paced profession, "but it's a lot of pressure. If you're tired or run-down or having a rough day or missing your friends and family, you can't just call in sick." Right. The show, as they say, must go on.

But Ashley seems energized and downright cheery on the day of her Teen Vogue interview, which is conducted over a breakfast of scrambled eggs and tofu at the Crosby Street Hotel in downtown New York City. She's recently signed a lease on an apartment nearby—she has another in Los Angeles, to which she moved when she was just seventeen—and plans to spend the afternoon scouting couches with her father, a construction-company owner who's flown in from her native Jacksonville, Florida, to help. "Bless his heart," Ashley says. "He's getting the electronics together for me right now because he knows the deals and I know nothing."

The new place, Ashley says, boasts a number of advantages, and the relative proximity to her family is among them. But she seems equally thrilled about the chance to live and work in the city. "I'm very much a girl that likes to have options," she explains. "That's the way I am with fashion, and that's the way I am with my life. In California, I do like to just chill out and go to the beach, but I love the energy here. I feel very productive when I'm in New York."

And being productive, she says, is key to her current definition of happiness. "I'm a bit of a workaholic," Ashley explains. Despite her earnest admission that success in Hollywood does have its downsides, she loves her job. "When I feel like I'm not doing something, it drives me insane," she says. Part of the urgency seems to come from Ashley's sense that she's at a sort of magic moment in her career, on the cusp of the kind of megafame that her costar Kristen Stewart found with the release of the first Twilight film. "This industry never stops," she says. "Right now I'm in this amazing place, and there are open doors. I think it would be foolish to take a month off. So many people would kill to be in my shoes that it's just bad karma!"

Ashley has no fewer than five films slated for release this year, starting with 1983-set coming-of-age story Skateland, which premiered at last year's Sundance Film Festival and hits theaters this month. "I play Michelle, who's about to graduate from high school," she says, "and I'm kind of facing the ups and downs of that. I think it's a very relatable film—we have love, loss, and heartbreak." She's even more excited about her turn in the upcoming comedy Butter, in which she appears opposite Jennifer Garner and Olivia Wilde. "It's about butter carving, which, really, you have to Google," she says. "People take these huge chunks of butter, as tall as me, and carve intricate things into them; it's mind-blowing. I'd never heard of it when I read the script, and I remember asking my manager, 'How do writers make this stuff up?' But it actually exists." In the movie, Ashley says, she plays a "typical rebellious teenager who goes from plain vanilla to basically being a stripper. It sounds ridiculous but it's going to be really funny."

Kristen Stewart Being Courted for 'Snow White' (video)

The Twilight star is on the list for the role of Snow White in Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman.

The movie, being directed by Rupert Sanders, is in deep casting mode, with Viggo Mortensen entering negotiations to play the Huntsman earlier Wednesday. Charlize Theron is in negotiations to play the evil queen.

Stewart is a name that Universal has kept coming back to since acquiring the project even as it went through a series of screen tests with actresses such as Riley Keough, Felicity Jones and Alicia Vikander. Emily Browning tested this past weekend (Stewart has reached a point in her career where testing isn't required).

Stewart, arguably one of the biggest stars in the world thanks to the Twilight movies, has focused on indie projects in between the vampire romancers, and this could become her first studio project since becoming a name. It also would put her in the shoes of an iconic character.

The Gersh-repped actress is currently shooting the Breaking Dawn movies, but the Snow White team has been making repeated overtures even as late as last week.

Stephenie Meyer sparks inspiration to ‘Prom & Prejudice’ author

Have you always dreamed of writing YA novels, or is it a natural byproduct of working with Stephenie Meyer?

My mother is a high school librarian. I’m actually named after Beth in Little Women. I have a sister named Meg too! So growing up there were always books around. I loved books. The Sweet Valley High series? Oh my gosh. I discovered those books one summer and would ride my bike every day to the library, pick up a new book, go home, read it, and ride back the next day to get the next book. My mother didn’t care that I was reading Sweet Valley High. When I finished the series she’d slip me a Newbery winner, but she never judged because she just wanted us to read. I want to write books that are fun for someone to read. I don’t want it to feel like work.

In your acknowledgements you thank Stephenie Meyer for a conversation that sparked your idea for the book. What was said?

We were on tour and talking about Pride & Prejudice and the different ways it’s influenced current pop culture—from Bridget Jones’s Diary to the Bollywood movie Bride & Prejudice. And I started thinking to myself, Could it be retold from a teen point of view? Pride & Prejudice is all about the Bennett sisters trying to find a husband but I didn’t want it to be about girls in high school trying to find a boyfriend. So I was like ‘What do girls and boys do in high school?’ And then all of the sudden the title Prom & Prejudice came to mind and I said it aloud and Stephenie was like ‘Ooh, that’s really good!’

Did you immerse yourself in the Jane Austen factory before you started writing?

I reread the original a few times. I watched all the movie incantations, just to see what has been done. And then I just had a lot of fun. It was like going into this novel you loved and then having a Choose Your Own Adventure with it.

If a young reader tells you she loved Prom & Prejudice where would you steer her next?

Read Pride & Prejudice! Read Sense & Sensibility, all of Jane Austen’s novels really. My favorite movie inspired by Pride & Prejudice is probably Lost in Austen. It was made by the BBC and this woman who’s obsessed with the novel stumbles into that world while Elizabeth Bennett stumbles into the modern day. You should see it—it’s hysterical.

What do you think about folks who reflexively sniff at adult YA fans who gobble up Twilight or Prom & Prejudice or Sweet Valley High for that matter?

I just think that people should read what makes them happy. Ninety percent of the books I read are in the YA world. They’re great books! You know, I remember when I first started working in publishing, on my first day at Scholastic, my boss handed me a book and told me to read it because everyone at the publisher was really excited about it. I remember thinking ‘Oh, hmm, okay, sure.’ And it was an early copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, which remains one of the best books I’ve ever read.

Access Hollywood: Robert Pattinson Talks ‘Breaking Dawn’ and ‘Water for Elephants’ and Why He’s Gone Red at Golden Globe Awards (video)

Robert Pattison had a new look when he turned up at the Golden Globes on Sunday – red-tinted hair.

“Your hair is a different color,” Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson noted when Robert hit Access’ Golden Globes red carpet platform.

“I know,” Robert laughed. “I’ve been trying to figure it out.”

Robert hinted that his hair color change had to do with his various projects – the next “Twilight Saga” installment – “Breaking Dawn: Part I” – and the upcoming “Water for Elephants.”

“It’s a different color in ‘Twilight’ than it is in ‘Water For Elephants’ so I had to do a kind of rush dye job on it,” he continued.

“Did you do it yourself?” Shaun asked

“Just like some mousse… isn’t it amazing?” he laughed.

“Breaking Dawn” won’t be out until November 18, but a photo surfaced online on Sunday, showing Robert and his co-star, Kristen Stewart, embracing in bed as Edward and Bella.

“Ooh,” Robert said when Shaun whipped out the picture. (Click HERE to see it)

“I just saw this today for the first time,” Robert continued. “Very pretty… It’s funny that’s the first picture they released… Kind of giving it away a little bit.”

While fans wait for the first installment of “Breaking Dawn,” Robert will keep his fans satisfied with “Water for Elephants,” which sees him playing a young man who joins a traveling circus as a vet after his parents pass away.

“I’m really excited about it coming out,” Robert raved. “I’ve been doing some additional stuff today and yesterday, and I think… I have a feeling it’s going to be really good.”

Robert added that his new film, due out on April 22, and also starring Reese Witherspoon, “The Cape’s” James Frain and Hal Holbrook, has a classic sort of feel.

“It’s like a big old-fashioned movie,” he said. “It feels like kind of 40s Hollywood. So, I hope that comes across. It’s got a sort of nostalgic factor that I miss anyway.”

'Potter,' 'Pirates,' 'Twilight' Lead Big Film Year of 2011

A momentous finale lies ahead for Hollywood this year. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" is the biggest screen farewell since the final "Star Wars" movie, closing out a decade of adventures for the young wizard.

Then there's that vampire-werewolf-schoolgirl love triangle. "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1" is the next-to-last installment in that series, with the finale due out in 2012.

As those franchises wind down, others are recharging. The original "Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy sailed into the sunset, but a new voyage now looms. The "Shrek" series has finished, but feline hero Puss in Boots sets out on his own in a spinoff.

And plenty of other big-screen regulars are coming back throughout 2011.

The holiday season brings part one of "Breaking Dawn," the finale to author Stephenie Meyer's supernatural romance that began with "Twilight." Kristen Stewart's back for the closing round in her torn-between-two-lovers relationship with her vampire beau (Robert Pattinson) and werewolf pal (Taylor Lautner).

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in Hollywood's Top-Grossing On-Screen Couples List

Twilight saga loveteam Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart made it to Forbe’s Top-Grossing On-Screen Couples List as their portrayal of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan character in the movie.

Rounding out the top five are Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in the Twilight movies. While romance might take a backseat to action in many of the movies on our list, it's the driving force in the Twilight films. It doesn't hurt that Pattinson and Stewart are also a couple in real life. So far the movies have earned $1.8 billion at the global box office. The last book, Breaking Dawn, has been divided into two movies. The first will hit theaters this coming November.

Jackson Rathbone Talks About His New Film GIRLFRIEND, Music and Other Projects

The actor/musician/songwriter who played the role of Jasper Hale in the popular vampire series, as well as Sokka in the Last Airbender film, is currently producing a new film while still working with his band 100 Monkeys.

Jackson's latest project, Girlfriend, is about a young man with Down's Syndrome named Evan. Evan romantically pursues a small town single mom named Candy, who is still mixed up with her volatile ex-boyfriend Russ. Not only did the actor play the part of Russ, he also served as a producer and as the film's composer.

"I was approached by my bandmate Jerad Anderson who put most of the pieces together for the film before bringing me into the picture. As producer, actor and composer I was able to bring an overall thematic element to the film that I would not have been able to as just an actor. I was very active as producer during production and post and had to make some hard decisions on editing and film procedures to make the best overall film possible. As composers, we 100 Monkeys tried to create a vast soundscape of a lullaby gone awry."

Asked if his new found experience behind the scenes is just as challenging as being in front of the camera, Jackson said it was "far more liberating than a cake-walk." He enjoyed the experience so much that he would very much like produce again and some day "hopefully even direct."

Jackson has been had quite a few guest spots on TV series such as Criminal Minds, The Cleaner and No Ordinary Family, and he has his eye on plenty more, such as "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Walking Dead, Madmen, Eastbound & Down, Bored to Death.... I love a good TV show and would love to be involved as guest artist or just to do a cameo." His past roles have been varied, playing both heroes and villains, but Rathbone admits he has a preference towards villainous characters since "heroes rarely have as much depth."

As if his professional plate wasn't full enough, Rathbone is set to star in a new web series called Aim High about a teenage spy; which he is very much looking forward to. "The ability to work on the show as lead actor and exec. producer was exciting and a new challenge. I wanted to have the full experience of how it is to work with big level studios and producers and learn from them as much as possible. It's different than producing an indie film and far more complicated as there are far more people working on it at once. I always love a good challenge and chance to learn from others."

Jackson is also a skilled musician, capable of playing numerous instruments. He is currently a part of the band 100 Monkeys which MTV recently filmed footage of as they performed at different gigs. The band is known to improvise songs during live shows, and will involve the audience by asking them for an idea or song-title. When asked if there were any of the songs or suggestions that were unforgettable he replied, "There have been a few... the most difficult improv/jam was at a smaller bar so we asked for three different ideas that we would tie together to make one song title. The result was the ridiculous "Hippopotamus On An Airplane Wing, Landing in the Nile".... Yeah. Ridiculous."

Playing around the country with his band is one thing, but Rathbone is ready to take his music career to the next level by launching his own record label. Very few details have been revealed, as the project is moving forward quietly, though he did say he has a firm grasp on the genre of music the label will focus on, "I will announce both our label's first two bands or more within the coming months as well as the label's name. Paperwork is a bitch, you know? Until then..."

Talking with Jackson about the upcoming two-part film The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, which is currently shooting in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he mentioned he still had "a bit" of filming left for his role as Jasper Hale. Besides that, he remained tight-lipped about the project. When asked whether his character and Renesmee (daughter of Bella and Edward) may have any interaction not included in the novel, Jackson cryptically joked, "Shhh.... it's rabbit season!"

Another film franchise Jackson is a part of with a large, yet wildly different, following is The Last Airbender based on the popular Nickelodeon cartoon. No word has been released whether the sequel film (or, Book Two, to Air Bender fans) has been greenlit, though Rathbone remains optimistic.

Ever comedic, Rathbone said he prepares for his roles in popular franchise like Last Airbender and Twilight by, "eating my veggies, drinking lots of black coffee, and going to church."

I had the time to throw one more question at Jackson, which actually came from one of our other Correspondents Christopher Lee, who wanted to know the actor's thoughts on the current craze of comic book derived movies and what, if any, comic book character would most like to portray on screen.

"It's a bigger comic universe... I always thought I'd make a great young Nightcrawler... or Forge... I've always been a huge fan of X-Men and hope to one day join in on the growing ensemble of characters. I also do like to portray bad guys... Spawn remake

What 2011 Has in Store for ‘The Twilight Saga’ Cast

Wondering what’s in store for “The Twilight Saga” cast this year? Thankfully, we know they’re all currently shooting “Breaking Dawn” and “Part 1″ will be released on November 18. But since that’s like – I don’t know – 5,000 days away (not exact math), I’m sure I’m not the only one curious to know what other projects our favorite young actors have hitting our local cineplexes this year.

I’ve taken the liberty of calling them each up individually, or spending an excessive amount of time on IMDB (one or the other), to bring you the scoop on what these ”Twilight” stars have in store.

Kristen Stewart - In 2011, Stewart will continue to grace low-budget features with her million-dollar pout.

Francis Ford Coppola, after owning the movie rights to Jack Kerouac’s “On The Road” for 31 years, is finally producing an adaptation with Sam Riley as the main character Sal Paradise and Garrett Hedlund (“TRON: Legacy”) as his party-crazed cohort Dean Moriarty. Stewart is playing Moriarty’s first wife Mary Lou, who is a partier, openly flirtatious and sexually devious (natch). When her husband abandons her, she sleeps with one or two or nine sailors to get even. (This one doesn’t have a release date yet, but we’re hoping it makes its way to theaters as planned in ’11.)

In addition, Stewart and her mother are still trying to get funding for “K-11.” Called one of the strangest projects in Hollywood, KStew would play a male-to-female transsexual prisoner with autism and Mama KStew would make her directing debut.

Robert Pattinson
- Now he’s slated for two period dramas in 2011. “Water for Elephants” will open on April 22, and casts Pattinson alongside Academy Award winners Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz.

The other film is called “Bel Ami,” and no it’s not affiliated with the gay porno company of the same name (in case you were wondering). It’s based on French author Guy de Maupassant’s second novel, published in 1885, and stars Pattinson as a young Parisian climbing to power by manipulating the city’s wealthiest women. “Bel Ami” doesn’t yet have a release date, but you can be sure they’ll be some intensely dramatic love scenes with he and co-stars Christina Ricci and Uma Thurman.

Taylor Lautner - This year Lautner will flex more of his famous muscles as the star of “Abduction,” scheduled for a September 23 release. The thriller, which is described as “Bourne-like,” follows Nathan Harper (Lautner) as he tries to find the truth about his life after finding his baby photo on a missing persons website. Of course, the truth doesn’t end up being at all easy, and Harper must punch, and kick, and drive his motorcycle really fast away from shadowy government figures. His hardcore fans can only hope he still gets really hot and has to take his shirt off.

Xavier Samuel - Samuel won’t be back for “Breaking Dawn.” However, you can catch him this year in the thriller, “Bait.” Set in Australia, it’s about a tsunami that traps a group of shoppers in a mall with tiger sharks. Better than “Snakes on a Plane,” it’s SHARKS IN A MALL.

Bryce Dallas Howard and Anna Kendrick
- They’re teaming up in 2011 for “Live With It.” Also starring Joseph-Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen and Anjelica Huston, the movie is a black comedy about 27-year-old guy who’s diagnosed with cancer.

Jackson Rathbone - He will be starring in this year’s “DaZe: Vol. Too (sic) – NonSeNse.” Rathbone will also star in “Zombie Hamlet,” which promises to mix Shakespeare, a movie within a movie, and of course, zombies.

Ashley Greene - By looking at 2010′s upcoming projects, you may think Greene is the biggest star here. She’s in FIVE different movies that should all be released this year, not including “Breaking Dawn.” “Skateland,” “Butter,” “LOL,” “A Warrior’s Heart” and “The Apparition” don’t look like they’ll be the biggest blockbusters, but she stars in all of them.

Kellan Lutz - This beefy actor also has four other films in the works this year, including “A Warrior’s Heart” with Greene. Going heavy on ACTION, Lutz appears in “The Killing Game” with Samuel L. Jackson and “Immortals” with Mickey Rourke (in which he plays Poseidon!) while also lending his voice to the animated “Guardians of Luna.”

Nikki Reed - Reed’s main project is potential blockbuster “Catch .44″ with Bruce Willis, Malin Akerman and Forest Whitaker. The thriller promises a psychopathic hit man, a grizzly trucker, and a delusional line cook.
