Twilight star Robert Pattinson is named by TIME in their annual issue of the people who most affect our world. The write-up included in the nomination is wrtiiten by New Moon director Chris Weitz.
"I have to be careful about what I write here because it will be tweeted the moment TIME hits the stands. And if I say something bad about Rob Pattinson, I'm dead meat. That's the devotion the Twilight films inspire. It's certainly not how he planned it. And though I am continually impressed by the aplomb with which he handles the hysteria, I occasionally think he would take it all back if given the chance. Because essentially, Rob, 23, is a reserved, bookish sort of specimen, a guy who'd rather spend the night at the corner table in the pub with friends — a bit of a weirdo, frankly, in the best sense.
So how to write about someone who seems to answer Freud's rhetorical question, What do women want? Perhaps it's just worth pointing out that it'd be fun to have a beer with him even if he weren't Edward Cullen. That we haven't seen a tenth of what he can do onscreen. And that important things, beyond the veil of Hollywood, occupy his time too — music, conversation, ideas, a sense of the absurd. Which, maybe, explains why he never gets to my e-mails. I love you, Rob! Call me!"

The Vampire hearthrob Robert Pattinson of Twilight hits the list of People Magazine World's Most Beautiful of 2010.
ROBERT PATTINSON
His pale, otherworldly complexion may make girls swoon, but the British heartthrob, 23, says looking the part of a lovesick vampire in the Twilight series isn't quite as thrilling: "Having that makeup put on every single day, as soon as you get it taken off it's like, 'Oh, you do look normal. You look healthy now."

Robert Pattinson's Dose of Rumors
Rob's Nirvana?: The Sun is a British tabloid that seems to specialize in stories about how Megan Fox is going to play Catwoman. Their latest "scoop," however, was a real doozy — Rob was in regular contact with Courtney Love and had landed the role of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain in a biopic. The rumor got a bit of traction, particularly because of RPattz's well-documented love of music, but ultimately the Sun story was dismissed by Love's reps, leaving the tabloid to offer all apologies.
Rob Is Preggers: It would be one thing to suggest that whomever RPattz is supposed to be dating this week is pregnant. But an Australian tabloid once reported that a little Rob was on the way and — get this — he was the one who was going to give birth to it! Perhaps the editors have been watching too many bad early '90s Arnold Schwarzenegger comedies lately, but the report was so ridiculous that even Rob himself singled it out as the craziest rumor he had ever heard about himself. We're no doctors, but six months have passed since the "news" broke, and since Rob's not showing yet, we're thinking it's safe to call this one bogus.
Rob Is a Pirate: Yo ho ho and a bottle of bull. That's what rumors of RPattz playing Jack Sparrow's brother in "Pirates of the Caribbean 4" turned out to be, after reports had him battling Zac Efron and Russell Brand (!?) for the role. Somebody needs to make whoever started that rumor walk the plank.
OME! Rob Is Engaged!: Have you sent RPattz an engagement gift yet? Because he got engaged last August. And then again in September, March and apparently Tuesday (April 13) as well. If you haven't sent a gift yet, don't worry: We're sure he'll get engaged two or three more times this week.
Rob Is Dating Everyone: Twilighters would love nothing more than if Rob were actually involved with Kristen Stewart. "Lost" fans would dig it if he ended up with Emilie de Ravin. Somebody out there must want him to date Megan Fox, Nikki Reed, Camilla Belle and Erika Dutra, whoever that is. There was even a rumor out there that he was dating Katy Perry — which would be a good way at getting Russell Brand back for stealing away his "Pirates 4" role. Through it all, Rob has denied dating any of them — so let's give the dude some space, OK, guys?
Rob Is Deaf: After RPattz made some tongue-in-cheek comments about how loud it was whenever he went out in public, some outlets decided to twist his words into an admission that he was actually deaf. Isn't it tragic that his fans have screamed at him so much that he'll have to film the "Breaking Dawn" movies using sign language? MTV News can confirm that we've interviewed him numerous times, and either his hearing is fine or he's the most amazing lip-reader in the world.
Rob Is Gay: Apparently, when Rob isn't dating every actress in Hollywood, he's busy dating every actor as well. Some outlets recently twisted an interview with one of Rob's friends to make it sound like something far more than friendship. Not that there would be anything wrong with it, but such a rumor seems as bogus as it is sad that someone would write it.
R ob Is Bond:At the "Remember Me" premiere in London, RPattz was asked if he'd like to play James Bond. What British actor wouldn't? Of course, when he said he would, certain sites reported it as fact. Such silliness can only leave his fans shaken and more than a bit stirred.
Rob Is an American Idol: A few months ago, the Web went wild with reports that Simon Cowell had approached Rob with a record deal. As much as some Twilighters would like it to happen, the reports turned out to be bogus (shocking!), so don't be looking for Rob on Cowell's hit show anytime soon.
Rob Stinks: Another RPattz rumor as suspicious as it was sad, last March an "unidentified source" was reported as saying that Rob's co-stars on "New Moon" thought he smelled bad. We've interviewed Rob numerous times and sniffed nothing more than charm and charisma — so, like many other RPattz rumors, it's the report itself that stunk.

Robert Pattinson 'Water For Elephants' Film Open Casting Call
Want to be seen in an upcoming Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon flick? Producers of "Water for Elephants" (which will also star recent-Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz) posted an ad on Craigslist in Los Angeles seeking extras of various types for the film, which currently in pre-production. If you’re in L.A. and available for the casting on April 17th, this could be your chance at cinematic glory!
“Water for Elephants” pairs Robert and Reese together once again (remember when Robert played Reese’s son in 2004’s “Vanity Fair”?) in a tale based on the historical novel of the same name by Sara Gruen. The story, as told in the novel, follows a series of intense memories by Jacob Jankowski, a man in his 90s. Jacob remembers the year he was 23, preparing for his final exams at Cornell University, when he received news that his parents were killed in a car accident.
As "WFE" continues, Jacob leaves school to join the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth and put his skills to use during the Great Depression. When Jacob — who presumably aspires to be like his veterinarian father — sees how badly head trainer August (Christoph) treats the animals, he struggles to reconcile August’s brutality with his at times charming personality. The plot thickens as Jacob, a virgin, falls in love with August’s wife Marlena (Reese). Sounds juicy, eh?
The Craigslist ad (which is "verified," according to the "WFE" Twitter account) notes that the production is currently seeking the following:
- Caucasian men with very 1930s looking period faces
- African American men with short 1930s period haircuts, all size 46 coat or smaller
- Caucasian women with shoulder length hair or shorter, size 6 or smaller
- Also you should note: "No piercings, tattoos, no breast implants, no artificial nails, no highlighted or colored hair."
Screenwriter Richard LaGravenese is adapting Gruen’s novel and Francis Lawrence of “I am Legend” and “Constantine” fame will direct. All signs point to this becoming R-Pattz’s next big hit, so get your pictures together NOW!

'Twilight's Stephenie Meyer Gives Fans Novella; Makes Progress On 'The Host'
Stephenie Meyer announced that she has written the Twilight tie-in novella The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novel. Little,Brown will release the book June 5, pledging $1 from each copy to be donated to the Red Cross for disaster relief in Haiti and Chile. But fans will want to know if this means another Meyer movie, and it doesn't seem likely at this point. In her disclosure about the 192-page novella—about the young vampire Bree who's introduced in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse—Meyer reveals that the prose helped Eclipse director David Slade and his castmembers as a research tool but it isn't clear whether it will stand on its own as a film. Because Summit Entertainment financed the Twilight films—the last book, Breaking Dawn, will be split into two installments—the indie company would likely own the character rights and there will undoubtedly be some begging by a distributor eager to keep the franchise alive.
I can report some forward progress on the movie version of The Host, Meyer’s first adult novel which she optioned last fall to producers Nick Wechsler and Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz--the trio behind the terrific screen adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s The Road. Steve Schwartz tells me that Andrew Niccol is working on the third draft of a screenplay which he’s writing in close consultation with the author. The Australian-born Niccol was once the hottest screenwriter in town after his groundbreaking script The Truman Show, and he has followed by writing visionary films like Gattaca and most The City That Sailed—the latter is a project that Will Smith has been attached to for more than a year. Still, Niccol wouldn’t qualify as the hottest director in town and would normally get overlooked for such a plum project. He originally wrote The City That Sailed as a directing vehicle. But Smith, who'd play a New York-based father with a London-based daughter who misses him so much that it causes her seaside town to break away and float toward Gotham, brought on his I Am Legend director Francis Lawrence, until the filmmaker jumped to direct Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz in Water for Elephants for Fox 2000. Fox is now looking for another filmmaker.
Because the producers used their own money, they were not hostage to choosing the flavor of the moment, but rather the right guy. Schwartz said the search went like this: “We asked Stephenie what her favorite science fiction movies were, and one of them was Gattaca,” he sald. “We spent time with Andrew, listened to his vision, introduced Andrew to Stephenie and she responded. There is very good chemistry in this group. Stephenie is a very smart collaborator, and she had an intuitive strong hunch he would be the right guy. Based on the script we’ve seen, we think she was right. We’re thinking this will be shot in early 2011.” They haven’t gone out for production financing—they might put together a cast first and come to the table with a complete package. But Meyer is a viable brand because of Twilight, and based on the incessant inquiries by distributors, Schwartz doesn’t think they will have trouble. “We are budgeting right now,” he said.
The Host is a love story set in the near future, when the Earth has been overrun by benevolent alien parasites that call themselves “souls” and take over the consciousness of humans. The book is about a “soul” called Wanderer, which fuses with a dying woman named Melanie Stryder, bent on discovering the whereabouts of the last pocket of surviving humans. Wanderer, a veteran assimilator, struggles with the dogged determination of the woman to retain her identity and values.
