"Twilight" Actor Michael Welch Talks Thirst Project in Africa and Breaking Dawn

“Twilight” actor Michael Welch is taking a break from bloodsucking vampires to help quench a more urgent kind of thirst.

Welch, who plays Bella’s high school bud Mike Newton, in the “Twilight” films, recently contributed a PSA in support of The Thirst Project, a non-profit organization seeking to answer the urgent need for clean drinking water and proper sanitation in Africa – and one charitable Twi-hard may help him provide hands-on help.

“I will be taking a trip to Africa, preferably Swaziland, but we have to raise enough funds in order to do that,” Welch tells PopcornBiz. “If enough people donate, we made a deal with the fans that I'm going to bring one of them with me and they'll get to see firsthand as well.”

Welch recently had his own awareness raised on the issue. “When I take a particularly delicious sip of cold water or take a shower that feels really good, I have said to myself, 'It's unbelievable to me that not everybody has access to this.’ So when [Thirst Project founder] Seth Maxwell introduced this cause to me it immediately struck me as something that I wanted to be a part of. It turns out that this crisis is drastically severe: one out of every six people who don't have clean water in the world. I just thought about myself and five people that I care about, thinking that one of them doesn't have water. It's inconceivable. And the effectiveness of the organization as well has been astonishing. In two and a half years they've been able to provide clean drinking water to 35,000 people.”

The actor appreciates the opportunity to use the fame and following he’s amassed via “Twilight” to make a difference. “This is one of the things that I really do like about being in this position – what some might call a celebrity, at least within the 'Twilight' world: the fact that I can reach people and I have the opportunity to make an impact.”

Meanwhile, he’ll back for the next film, “Breaking Dawn.”

“I will be in at least the first of the last two films, and I'm not sure about the second film yet,” he says. “It's going to be a little strange when it's finally over, when we take the last shot or when we have the last premiere and then that's going to be it and there's going to be no more ‘Twilight.’ This has been going on for I guess a little over two and a half years now, and shoot, it's going to be really interesting to see where we all go from here.”

Taylor Lautner Wins $40,000 Settlement Against RV Company LawSuit

Taylor Lautner would be $40,000 richer today -- if he weren't donating the money to charity.

The Twilight actor, 18, reached a settlement with McMahon's RV Friday after the California-based company failed to deliver a trailer to the set of Abduction by June 21.

"McMahon's RV has agreed to settle its dispute with Taylor Lautner. McMahon's RV will pay $40,000 to Lautner, which Lautner will donate to The Lollipop Theater Network, a children's charity with which he has a long-standing relationship," Lautner's attorney Robert Barta tells UsMagazine.com exclusively.

Adds Barta: "The Lollipop Theater Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing movies currently in theaters to children confined to hospitals due to chronic or life-threatening illnesses. The Lollipop Theater Network works with hospitals nationwide, including the greater Los Angeles and Orange County areas.?"

Though TMZ claimed Lautner suffered from "emotional distress" over the incident, a source tells Us that simply wasn't true.

"This was never a suit about money. It was to hold someone accountable," the insider says. "Taylor never ordered a customized RV -- it was a used RV which needed simple safety-related repairs. There was never any diva behavior. 'Emotional distress' is an automatic checked box on a fraudulent claim."

Kellan Lutz donates his clothes for Haiti people

Kellan Lutz is the latest star to lend his wattage to the Haitian people -- yesterday, the "Twilight" actor donated his own clothes to DoSomething.org and Aeropostale's 3rd Annual Teens for Jeans campaign, which is benefitting the victims of Haiti's earthquake.

Not only is this a wonderful thing for Kellan to have done, but it leaves him with less clothes to wear in his real life, which is nothing but a good thing if you've seen the boy sans shirt before.

Robert Pattinson Video Clip of Hope For Haiti Relief

Robert Pattinson from the ‘Hope For Haiti Now’ event talks about how social media technology has changed the way we interact when devastation hits and how we can help the Haitian people recover from the devastating earthquake.

Taylor Lautner part of the phone crew during Hope For Haiti Telethon

"Hope for Haiti" relief telethon airs tonight, Robert Pattinson will not be manning the phones, despite reports to the contrary. Rather, he'll support the effort with an appearance out of London, a spokesman for MTV confirms.

Robert was spotted today on his way to the taping -- rocking one of those oh-so-popular beards we've been seeing so much of lately.

Taylor Lautner, however, will be part of the Los Angeles-based phone crew, which includes more than 100 other celebrity names. And just because we haven't seen shimmers from the likes of Mel Gibson, Nick and Kevin Jonas, Jeremy Renner, Gabourey Sidibe, Russell Simmons, John Cusack or Alyssa Milano lately doesn't mean they don't give good phone!

Brad Pitt, who's an old hand at this sort of thing, will also be among the stars appearing, though not as part of the phone bank.

What about Kristen Stewart?

Edward's Bella was already committed to the Sundance Film Festival, where she's promoting "The Runaways" and "Welcome to the Rileys."

Kristen Stewart Unable for “Hope for Haiti” Telethon wih Robert Pattinson

Several days ago Gossip Cop told you Robert Pattinson had not yet been approached to participate in this Friday’s “Hope for Haiti” telethon, but a source close to the actor said, “I’m sure Robert would participate if asked.”

We passed the message along to organizer George Clooney’s people, and today it appears as though the “Twilight” star is on board.

A source close to Pattinson tells Gossip Cop he’s doing the event, saying, ”We are in the process now of working out his participation from London.”

Gossip Cop is working to confirm other possible additions to the list of participants. We will keep you posted on what we learn.

Haiti obviously needs as much financial support as possible, so the more big names to lend a hand, the better.

Many of you asked whether Kristen Stewart will be part of the “Hope for Haiti” event. Gossip Cop has learned that Stewart would love to be involved, but will be occupied at the Sundance Film Festival and unable to participate.

Twilight star Robert Pattinson On Haiti Relief Telethon

The Twilight star Robert Pattinson is among the Hollywood celebrity who signed for the Haiti Telethon.

I just got word that the Twilight star has signed on for Friday's Hope for Haiti telethon. As of right now, it looks like Rob will be the sole presenter in London, with performances by Jay-Z and Bono.

Stateside performers—some announced and others not—will include:

Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Shakira and Bruce Springsteen, who are among those performing live during the two-hour benefit, which will air on all the major television networks (including our very own E!).

Other mega-celebs who will present and/or help in the phone banks are Jennifer Aniston, Jake Gyllenhaal, Brad Pitt, Anna Kendrick, Zac Efron, Bradley Cooper, Renée Zellweger, Chris Pine, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Colin Farrell, Gabby Sidibe and Emily Blunt, among many others.

No word yet on Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, but as I was the first to tell you, Hollywood's hottest vampire movie trio is a very wanted group for the telethon because of the impact they would have with young people.

Also on organizers' wish list are—no surprise—Oprah Winfrey and Angelina Jolie.

George Clooney is set to host from Los Angeles, with Wyclef John in New York City and CNN newsman Anderson Cooper in Haiti.

Our source says celeb participation and other plans keep changing. "With everything moving so quickly," the source said, "changes are happening every minute."

This just in from the Quileuete Nation:

“Twilight Saga:New Moon” actress Tinsel Korey who portrays Emily in the franchise gave the Quileute Tribal School students a special “Christmas Treat”.

Each student at the school received a personalized autographed photo from Tinsel on the last day of school before Christmas break. “Tinsel autographed the photos after her visit in the fall for each student and I wanted to them to receive them for a special occasion, states Jackie Jacobs. ‘I thought it would be a special treat for them to receive them for Christmas!”

Twilight Stars Raise Their Voices For Charity: One Campaign againts Poverty

Jackson Rathbone, Ashely Greene, and Kellan Lutz recently got together for "Coming Together as ONE," a public service announcement sponsored by the advocacy group ONE, to flight global poverty and preventable disease — specifically in Africa.

The goal of the campaign is to recruit more young people in the battle against poverty. "In the last election, and over the course of history, young people have shown that when we get organized and committed, we are powerful. The fight against extreme poverty and preventable disease in poor countries needs our support, our energy and our commitment," Ashley told ONE.
