It's for real Peter Facinelli wants your blood... for a good cause.

Actor Peter Facinelli played as the patriarch of vampire Cullen family known as Dr. Carlisle Cullen has joined the blood drive of Community Blood Council of NJ for emergency blood supplies.

"There's an irony in a vampire asking for your blood," said Peter Facinelli, perhaps better known as Dr. Carlisle Cullen of the blockbuster film "Twilight" and "The Twilight Saga."

"I always think it's a good fit," Facinelli said.

On March 5, from noon to 5 p.m., Facinelli will visit Quaker Bridge Mall to spend time with fans and promote two charitable organizations focusing on two distinct causes: Alex's Lemonade Stand for Childhood Cancer and the Community Blood Council of NJ for emergency blood supplies.

Facinelli will spend the day in the mall's lower level center court for a meet-and-greet and autograph session, as well as a "Twilight"-inspired blood drive, which will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. just outside of Sears.

The star will sign autographs for $25 and take photos with fans for $40, plus $10 per additional person, in the afternoon, with part of the proceeds benefitting Alex's Lemonade Stand. More information can be found online at www.quakerbridgemall.com.

Those fans wishing to donate blood should contact the Community Blood Council of New Jersey at (609) 883-9750 ext. 145, or visit www.givebloodnj.org. Donors will automatically be entered to win a private dinner later that evening with Facinelli, and the first 25 donors will receive an autographed T-shirt.

"It's a day where fans and I get to get together and have fun," Facinelli told The Times in a phone interview yesterday, "but also, we're helping to save lives at the same time. Everybody wins in that respect."

Along with contributing to two great causes, he said he is looking forward to meeting some of his fans.

"It makes me excited to meet them," he said. "It's a long day, but no matter how tired I get, (I) get fed by the energy of the crowd."

And according to Marian Kapp, marketing director at Quaker Bridge Mall, there will be plenty of fans on hand.

"Fans as far as Virginia and Florida are planning on traveling to meet Peter Facinelli," she said.

Mary Moore, recruitment account manager for the Community Blood Council, said she hopes the event will be a win-win, where fans get to visit with a celebrity and the blood council receives donations.

"The winter months have really produced a lot of shortages for us," she said. "We're hoping that it brings in blood."

Jennie Garth talks Family Life With Dr. Cullen…AKA Peter Facinelli and Leaving Beverly Hills, 90210 Behind .

Jennie Garth rose to fame in the '90s as teen queen Kelly Taylor on Beverly Hills, 90210. Now, she's enjoying her most important role as mom to daughters Luca, 13, Lola, 7, and Fiona, 4.

The 38-year-old opened up to Parade.com about her marriage to Twilight star Peter Facinelli, why she said goodbye to the new 90210, and her current project that helps bring families closer together.

She's definitely a hands-on mom.
"I cook every day. If I don't cook, they don't eat. Who's going to do it? I'm their mother!"

She picked up a few cooking tips from her Italian mother-in-law.
"For her 60th birthday, Peter made a family cookbook with all her recipes. And it's so beautiful. It's falling apart now because I use it all the time."

How did Peter's traditional mother react to him marrying an actress?
"Let's not leave out the fact that I was pregnant! That didn't go over well. Living in sin with a girl from Hollywood. It was not the way I wanted it go. I met them before the pregnancy and they really liked me, but then they found out I was pregnant and she went to church a lot!"

Finding the joy in acting.
"I still enjoy acting. I love the moment in front of the camera, but it's all the other moments that I don't enjoy. The 'business' aspect of it, the gossip. I really dislike about 99% of what I do, but I like that 1% when I'm on camera."

Her 90210 days are behind her.
"I finished my stint there and the show Is kind of off on its own, and I'm happy to walk away. It was fun, there's a lot of energy. My friend was producing the first season of the new show, and so that was kind of my motivation to be a part of it. And then he left and it just kind of got a little wonky, so I was happy to be a part of it in the beginning."

Recreating the heyday of Beverly Hills, 90210.
"Now, it just seems like another show that we've already seen. Like Gossip Girl and so many shows that show that lifestyle. And when our show was on, there was no TMZ, there was no paparazzi, we had giant cell phones, there was no Internet. It was such a different time. I can't believe there was no Internet! I feel so old!"

Keeping her kids grounded in the spotlight.
"We just moved out of L.A. because I didn't want to be raising my girls in the city. They're in public school now and they're in a normal situation. We're sort of settling into that. It's just a choice. I could have probably raised them in L.A. and they would have been great and had so many things at their fingertips and been exposed to so many things. But we travel a lot, so I don't think that moving out of town is sheltering the girls at all. Maybe protecting them a little bit more, trying to prolong their youth."

How do her daughters react to having a Cullen for a father.
"My 13-year-old has read the first two books. We stopped it there; it got a little too risque. But she's more embarrassed by it, actually. She's like, 'Let's not talk anything Twilight. Don't mention it. Wear a hat to my school.' She's a little embarrassed by it, she wants people to like her for her and not because of him, or want to come to our house because of that. It's something we deal with. But she's proud of him. She's actually a really gifted songwriter at 13; she's like Taylor Swift. She wants to write scripts and write songs, so she's constantly doing that."

Would she ever write her own tell-all like former 90210 co-star Tori Spelling?
"No, because I have memory issues, so I don't even remember it. I can't even remember what I did yesterday! I could see myself writing a book about memory loss."

Twilight vampire doctor Peter Facinelli Talks ‘Twilight’ to Fredericksburg.com

Peter Facinelli had never heard of the "Twilight" books when his agent asked him to audition for a vampire movie.

"I said no. I was thinking it was some B or C slasher, horror kind of picture," said Facinelli, whose agent quickly sent him a copy of Stephenie Meyer's popular first novel.

"I couldn't put it down," said Facinelli, who read it in one night. "It was kind of a throwback to the origins of what vampire folklore was, the sensuousness and the love story that it used to be.

"It wasn't a schlocky horror movie."

No, indeed. The first three films in the "Twilight" series have grossed $1.7 billion worldwide and spawned full-blown fandemonium, with "Twi-hards" camping out days in advance for film premiere tickets, decked out head-to-toe in movie merchandise.

And Facinelli has been along for the ride as Dr. Carlisle Cullen, the kindly head of a family of "vegetarian" vampires--they feed only on animals, not humans--and the adoptive father of Edward, played by mega-star Rob Pattinson.

Facinelli will greet fans tomorrow at Spotsylvania Towne Centre as part of a fundraiser for the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, which supports pediatric cancer research.

Since the first film came out in 2008, Facinelli has done his share of public appearances, many on behalf of charities. This one, founded by parents who lost their 8-year-old daughter to cancer, is a favorite of the actor, who has three young girls of his own.

"These parents took this horrible, devastating thing and made it into something inspiring and positive," said Facinelli, who has also visited pediatric hospitals. "I have kids. I couldn't even imagine them having to be in a hospital sick."

His previous appearances have attracted thousands, and his Twitter feed has nearly 1.7 million followers. Still, Facinelli seems genuinely surprised by the throngs.

"I'm always excited when more than five people show up," he said. "I'm always flattered."

'FAN BASE EXPLODED'

It's hard to imagine now, but the crowds weren't always there. While filming the first movie in Oregon, Facinelli said he and fellow actors Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson could grab dinner in local restaurants and no one batted an eye.

"We could've been doing a cookie commercial. Nobody cared we were doing this movie," he said. "We felt a responsibility to make a good movie for the fans of the books. But somewhere between the wrapping of filming and the premiere, that fan base exploded."

Even after that, the dark-haired Facinelli said he often wasn't recognized in public. In real life, he's a young-looking 36 with a healthy glow about him. It takes up to two hours in a makeup chair to transform the actor into Carlisle Cullen, a 350-year-old vampire with bleach-blond hair and pale, shimmery skin.

Of course nowadays, admirers have no problem picking the L.A. resident out of a crowd. He's happy to sign autographs and pose for photos, though he'd rather not pretend he's biting someone. For the most part, he said, fans are friendly and supportive.

"They're very polite about it," he said. "I feel bad for Rob Pattinson. He can't walk anywhere. I can still walk through a mall and people recognize me, but it isn't like the whole mall is staring at me."

Many of the fans he meets are young, which doesn't faze Facinelli at all. His own daughters are 13, 7 and 3.

While his oldest enjoys the books, she won't wear the film merchandise since her dad's in the movies, he said.

When he's home, he's the assistant coach for her soccer team.

"I'll go to some mall and have all these people standing in line. When I'm on the field with these 13-year-old girls, they don't care that I'm Carlisle," he said. "I'm the guy who makes them run laps."

HE HAS FIRM FILM PLANS

Facinelli's fan base isn't limited to Twi-hards. He also plays the manic Dr. Fitch "Coop" Cooper in the Showtime series "Nurse Jackie" alongside Edie Falco.

During summer and fall of last year, he played both characters at once. He'd spend two or three days on the set of "Eclipse" in Vancouver, then fly to New York City for several days of "Nurse Jackie" filming.

He was sleep-deprived but said he enjoyed the experience.

"I like that he [Cooper] is 180 degrees from Carlisle, but has the same occupation. It's interesting to play two doctors so different from each other," Facinelli said. "One is really mature, the patriarch who's solid as a rock. Coop is immature and runs around like he drank five cans of Red Bull. For me to go back and forth between the two characters is a blast."

Facinelli is also plenty busy behind the camera. He's written a Hallmark Channel movie called "Mulligan," which should air next year. It stars his wife, Jennie Garth, who played Kelly Taylor for 10 years on "Beverly Hills, 90210."

This week, he was in Rhode Island, filming a movie he wrote called "Loosies," about a New York pickpocket who suddenly learns he's about to become a father. The film's cast includes Joe Pantoliano ("The Sopranos," "Matrix"), Jaimie Alexander ("Kyle XY"), Michael Madsen ("Reservoir Dogs," "Donnie Brasco") and Vincent Gallo ("Buffalo '66").

"They're so good. I feel blessed to be working with them," said Facinelli, who will look for a distributor for the film once it's been edited.

He said it's been a treat to see actors bring to life something he wrote, and he hopes to pursue more filmmaking.

"When you write and produce--and at some point I'd like to direct--you're creating these worlds. You have a hand in it," he said. "It's like being the coach of a baseball team rather than the second baseman."

‘Twilight’ star Peter Facinelli, Corrente film ‘Loosies’ in Cranston

Director Michael Corrente is sitting on a director’s chair in a hallway of the old Cranston police station watching a widescreen TV monitor where Peter Facinelli is playing an emotion-charged scene in the movie “Loosies.”

Facinelli, co-star of the highly successful “Twilight” movies and Showtime TV’s “Nurse Jackie,” is in his undershirt at a kitchen table which is part of a movie-set kitchen that’s on the other side of the partition directly behind Corrente.

The set, which is supposed to be in a New York City apartment, is so tiny there’s room to fit only the actors, cinematographer and sound man. But Corrente, who is directing his first film since “Brooklyn Rules” in 2007, says it doesn’t matter that he’s not up front with the actors. With the new digital technology, which allows the camera to hone in blazingly close on Facinelli’s eyelashes, he can direct the movie via TV monitor, with only occasional forays onto the actual set where Facinelli’s character is having a tense moment with his mother, played by Marianne Leone of “The Sopranos.”

Although “Loosies” is set entirely in New York, Corrente says 80 percent of it will be shot in the old Cranston lockup, where elaborate sets have been constructed and a small army of movie technicians has set up shop in old offices, even hallways. The crew has already shot some scenes in downtown Providence as well, and Corrente expects there will be a couple of days of filming in New York by a second-unit crew once principal photography is completed here in about four weeks. The crew has been in this location since July 15 and at times the heat has been unbearable, broken only by two huge portable air conditioning units which must be shut off whenever the camera rolls.

For Facinelli, who looks far different and much handsomer than the 360-year-old pale and blonde vampire he plays in the “Twilight” films … and even younger than his own 36 years, “Loosies” is a very personal movie. He started writing the screenplay nine years ago. “It seems like eons ago,” he says, “a coming-of-age story about a 30-year-old guy who finally learns that he must take responsibility.”

In “Loosies” he plays Bobby, a New York pickpocket in his mid-30s who still lives with his mother, dresses in business suits and tells his mom he works on Wall Street when he leaves in the morning. A classy-looking thief, he’s amassing money to pay back his long-absent father’s gambling debts. His footloose life is upended when the young woman with whom he had a one-night stand returns to announce that she’s pregnant with his child.

Facinelli chuckles when asked if the plot came from somewhere in his own background. Actually, he says, “Loosies” is his “updated homage” to the caper films of the 1970s that he fell in love with on TV when he was growing up — Steve McQueen’s films and especially “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” which he calls “the whole reason I got into acting. Those films were loose, fast-paced. I wanted to make a movie that reminded me of that kind of genre.”

Facinelli says not much happened with “Loosies” — “I put it away in a drawer” — until a series of fortuitous events found him crossing paths with Corrente. Several years ago Facinelli had auditioned for a role in a film about a group of young guys who get involved with gangsters, but the director at the time thought the Queens-born actor wasn’t right for the script’s Queens-born character. Later, when Corrente took over the film, now called “Brooklyn Rules,” he looked at the old audition tapes, came across Facinelli’s and offered him a role. But the actor was now committed to a TV series and Scott Caan took the role in “Brooklyn Rules.”

Through that contact, however, Facinelli’s “Loosies” script made its way to Corrente. But at the time, the director was in the middle of “Brooklyn Rules” and only vaguely remembers reading it. Later, Facinelli says that while another director “was floating around” the script with some interest, he again sent it to Corrente “because I thought he was right for it.”

Corrente was more open to reading “Loosies” this time and recalls that “I thought, ‘Oh my God, this is really a great script,’ ” describing it as a “romantic dramedy.”

About this time, East Greenwich businessman Chad A. Verdi went into partnership with Corrente to produce films and, as Facinelli puts it, “rode in on a white horse with a bagful of money.” Facinelli entered into a two-picture deal with VerdiCorrente Productions, the second film being “Paz.” It’s the story of boxer Vinny Paz, a role originally slated to be played by Scott Caan ironically enough, and his triumphant return to the ring following a devastating car crash. Facinelli expects “Paz” to go before the cameras in late spring, after he finishes filming the next two back-to-back “Twilight” movie installments, “Breaking Dawn” parts one and two.

“Then I have to get into fighting shape for ‘Paz.’ ”

But right now he’s up to his neck as Bobby, the pickpocket whose life is about to change in “Loosies,” which Corrente says will be ready for theatrical release at about this time next year. When it’s mentioned that it must be fairly easy acting in a film that he wrote, Corrente laughs, saying, “You’d be surprised at the number of times he asks, ‘What’s my line?’ ”

Actually, the script seems to be a work in progress, with Corrente asking Facinelli to change things at the last minute. “Michael is very collaborative,” says Facinelli. “We’re both passionate Italians and when we come together we go at the script to make it better.”

Twilight star Peter Facinelli has described the fanbase behind the franchise as "phenomenal".

The actor, who plays Dr Carlisle Cullen in the vampire saga, told ET Online that he enjoys "connecting" with fans through Twitter.

"The fanbase has been so phenomenal. When you go to an event, people have flown in from other countries just to take a picture with you," he said.

"That is a loyal fanbase that you can't even imagine having. I am thankful for all of them. That is why I try to give back in connecting with them."

When asked if he has any information on the proposed fourth instalment Breaking Dawn, he replied: "I don't know. Usually the fans know before I do."
